Christmas Wishlist 2016

Hey guys!

I can't be the only one who has bought into the "where the hell did 2016 go" cliche, but seriously, this year has flown.

2016 will probably go down as one of the worst years the world has seen in a while, from the death of legends David Bowie and Alan Rickman (I teared up at both) and the installment of Donald J Trump in the White House, 2016 has spawned millions of memes about how unfortunate the last 12 months have been.

Luckily, Christmas is on the horizon, and it has to be one of my favourite times of the year.

From the lights going up on Grafton Street to the thought of spending some time at home in Galway with the family, Christmas has a way of erasing the negativity of a year and promoting positive anticipation for the next.

As someone who works non-stop and lives on the opposite side of the country from my childhood home, going home to see my family for Christmas is a really important and treasured time for me.

Shopping for Christmas presents can be one of the more stressful elements of this time of year, but Iv'e put together a quick 'Christmas Wishlist,' with some of the best pieces Iv'e seen recently. From 2017 planners to unusually coloured faux fur, these are my top picks for Christmas 2016.

OOTD#11 | The Berlin Wall | Berlin Style Guide

(Coat-ASOS, Trousers-Topshop, Jumper-River Island)

The graffiti scarred streets of Berlin are a fashion bloggers dream, with barely an expressionless wall or pavement to be found in the city districts and beyond.
(Bag-F21, PomPom-Penneys/Primark)

Even the doorways and lampposts are scrawled with tags, and layers and layers of flyers for art galleries, club nights and the underground music scene.
(Scarf-ASOS (Menswear) Ring-Topshop)
Iv'e been channeling a minimal, normcore vibe for the past few months and that reflected in the outfits I chose to bring to Berlin. This look blended in perfectly with the Berlin street style, as boyfriend coats, canvas bags and scarves made up the staples of Berlin style.
(Socks-Topshop, Shoes-New Balance)
The colour scheme was muted, with the most trendy looks seeming to consist of layered coats, slouchy polo-neck jumpers tucked into dungarees, and lots of black Doc Martins and white runners.

(Cap-Gifted)
I have put together a Berlin Style staples guide below, featuring some of the most prominent feature pieces of the street style I saw. The Berlin look is all about minimum effort and maximum cool. If you look like you have tried with this look then you have failed to encapsulate the Berlin vibe.
Dusty hues, subtle athleisure and over-sized coats and jumpers are worn out, not a hint of a high heel or fake tan to be seen. New balances and chunky boots are footwear most often seen, and the boyfriend coat and longline heavy duster coat were seen on every district street.

And finally, credit to my best friend Ashley McDonnell who shot this outfit for me, check out the outfit I shot for her over on her recently launched blog The Style Scruple.

Christmas Party Dresses

Christmas Party Dresses

Christmas Party Dresses by sarahmagliocco

So the Christmas season is upon us once again, and Christmas equals parties, nights out and mistletoe.
Seeings as I like to think of myself as an amateur stylist of sorts and spend hours making outfits out of my own wardrobe (and my friend's!) and on Polyvore, I decided to find a few pretty party dresses and construct outfits around them! I picked some very different dresses as I hoped to create something to suit everyones style.

The first dress I picked out was this green draped front dress with an asymetrical hem. I am sorely tempted to buy it myself for the Christmas night out. This first look is something I would personally wear myself. I paired it with Jeffrey Campbell's It shoe, the white 'Scully' platform. I am literally in love with these shoes lawwd knows I lust over them. They are sold out nearly everywhere but I'm hoping they will soon be restocked over at Nastygal, SoleStruck or Karmaloop.

I also teamed this dress with a gold chunky chain by Balmain, but any affordable chunky chain will do. Along with this I put a white envelope clutch bag with gold detailing to tie the whole look together.

The second look I put together is for the girly party goers this holiday season. With the sequins & shine in this look you wont be missed! The dress is from SoFeminine.co.uk and marries gold and silver sequins perfectly.
I teamed this already over the top party dress with stand out silver accessories to match the sequins on the bust line of the dress.
This simple chain is an everyday wardrobe essential anyways, and is available from Topshop.
The original Polyvore clutch is a bit pricy so I opted for this oversized felt envelope clutch, which you can get from StudioBin at Etsy.com.
The shoes are a modern take on the staple court shoe, and Miss Selfridge gives them a hologram makeover.

For the third look I had a girl with edge in mind. This multi textured velvet & sequin party dress is the perfect eclectic take an classic Christmas sequins.

Available from Topshop, this thigh skimmer will surely get you noticed on the dance floor even with its subtle colour scheme.

I paired this with the classic Jeffrey Campbell best seller, the all black lita, available from Karmaloop.com. This Aldo cocktail ring also ads the right amount of understated glamour while this feathered ASOS clutch injects that extra bit of edge to an already dynamic outfit, especially if your budget doesnt quite stretch to the Saint Laurent black box clutch. Pair with a black fur coat and a jager bomb and you're set for the night!

For the final look, I wanted to go all out glamour for someone who likes to keep it classy at all times. I chose the white Alice & Olivia dress because it's beautiful, simple and chic, but it would set you back a whopping €320.
Seeings white is the It colour of the season, here is a selection of white out dresses, all available from Missguided.co.uk. Order by Wednesday if you want it to be here before Santa arrives!

I teamed the white dress with colour pop accessories to lift the look. I chose cobalt blue but any colour would work just as well!
These statement structured earrings are from Topshop, and match the gold detailing on the cobalt 'Barely There' shoes from River Island for €65.
The amazing fur bag is by 3.1 Philip Lim and is available from Modaoperandi.com.
If your looking for cobalt on the high street then look no further than this Zara colour pop clutch.
Information on any of these looks and links to Where To Buy are all on my Polyvore page, the link is just under the Top Image!  I'm thinking of starting a 'How To Style' section on my blog so let me know what you think! I'm going to do do it by occasion, such as what to wear to a wedding, and items, such as tartan pants, pelmet skirt etc. so if you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments below!
Ciao for now and have a wonderful holiday season from Vintage Venom.

Christmas Wish List

Christmas Wish List by sarahmagliocco featuring River Island

So it's that time of year again, and being a material girl I always make a Wish List.

Missguided evening dress
$44 - missguided.co.uk

I have had the seasonal obsession with white clothes every since the minimalist trend rolled around, and the persuit of the perfect flattering white dress has been an obsession ever since.

Levi's denim shorts
etsy.com

Denim shorts. Finally I got an amazing blue denim pair from Topshop a few weeks ago but my black clothes obsession never ceases.

Topshop stretch jeans
topshop.com

I have never been a jeans girl but since investing in a black pair of Moto black Leigh skinny jeans I now want a pair in every colout.

Leather pumps
nastygal.com

Jeffrey Campbell Scullys, my ultimate shoe crush of the year. Fingers crossed they're mine before the year is out.

Casio digital watch
target.com

The last watch I had was probably pink, plastic and sparkly and came out of a Lucky Bag. I love Casio watches, they are 90's accessories personified.

Moschino belt
net-a-porter.com

Just a dream. Although Cotton Face Vintage can apparently get them!

White headphone
chapters.indigo.ca

Self explanitory. My headphones are luminous orange and have no sound proofing what so ever. I'm sure the nice commuters on my bus route ae sick of the 1975 blaring out at them every morning.

New Celine Paris Printed Logo Men Black and White Cotton T Shirt Tee -...
etsy.com

Brian Lichtenburg is a satirical master, his Celine tee's are the epitome of this.

MAC Cosmetics lipstick
nordstrom.com

Dark red is my lipstick colour of choice and my Kate Moss Rimmel is running low.

Benefit eye makeup
$17 - johnlewis.com

Falsies. Nuff said.

Benefit perfume
$48 - debenhams.com

The sweetest, nicest perfume in existance. I cant walk past a Benefit counter without giving it a spritz.

River Island nail polish
$3.95 - riverisland.com

Matching nails, matching lips.

Velvet Scrunchie
$7.40 - americanapparel.co.uk

American Apparel doesn't ship to Ireland, I fear this will never host my raggedy bad hair days.

I made this wish list on Polyvore, follow my sets, the username is sarahmagliocco!
