Christmas Party Dresses

Christmas Party Dresses

Christmas Party Dresses by sarahmagliocco

So the Christmas season is upon us once again, and Christmas equals parties, nights out and mistletoe.
Seeings as I like to think of myself as an amateur stylist of sorts and spend hours making outfits out of my own wardrobe (and my friend's!) and on Polyvore, I decided to find a few pretty party dresses and construct outfits around them! I picked some very different dresses as I hoped to create something to suit everyones style.

The first dress I picked out was this green draped front dress with an asymetrical hem. I am sorely tempted to buy it myself for the Christmas night out. This first look is something I would personally wear myself. I paired it with Jeffrey Campbell's It shoe, the white 'Scully' platform. I am literally in love with these shoes lawwd knows I lust over them. They are sold out nearly everywhere but I'm hoping they will soon be restocked over at Nastygal, SoleStruck or Karmaloop.

I also teamed this dress with a gold chunky chain by Balmain, but any affordable chunky chain will do. Along with this I put a white envelope clutch bag with gold detailing to tie the whole look together.

The second look I put together is for the girly party goers this holiday season. With the sequins & shine in this look you wont be missed! The dress is from SoFeminine.co.uk and marries gold and silver sequins perfectly.
I teamed this already over the top party dress with stand out silver accessories to match the sequins on the bust line of the dress.
This simple chain is an everyday wardrobe essential anyways, and is available from Topshop.
The original Polyvore clutch is a bit pricy so I opted for this oversized felt envelope clutch, which you can get from StudioBin at Etsy.com.
The shoes are a modern take on the staple court shoe, and Miss Selfridge gives them a hologram makeover.

For the third look I had a girl with edge in mind. This multi textured velvet & sequin party dress is the perfect eclectic take an classic Christmas sequins.

Available from Topshop, this thigh skimmer will surely get you noticed on the dance floor even with its subtle colour scheme.

I paired this with the classic Jeffrey Campbell best seller, the all black lita, available from Karmaloop.com. This Aldo cocktail ring also ads the right amount of understated glamour while this feathered ASOS clutch injects that extra bit of edge to an already dynamic outfit, especially if your budget doesnt quite stretch to the Saint Laurent black box clutch. Pair with a black fur coat and a jager bomb and you're set for the night!

For the final look, I wanted to go all out glamour for someone who likes to keep it classy at all times. I chose the white Alice & Olivia dress because it's beautiful, simple and chic, but it would set you back a whopping €320.
Seeings white is the It colour of the season, here is a selection of white out dresses, all available from Missguided.co.uk. Order by Wednesday if you want it to be here before Santa arrives!

I teamed the white dress with colour pop accessories to lift the look. I chose cobalt blue but any colour would work just as well!
These statement structured earrings are from Topshop, and match the gold detailing on the cobalt 'Barely There' shoes from River Island for €65.
The amazing fur bag is by 3.1 Philip Lim and is available from Modaoperandi.com.
If your looking for cobalt on the high street then look no further than this Zara colour pop clutch.
Information on any of these looks and links to Where To Buy are all on my Polyvore page, the link is just under the Top Image!  I'm thinking of starting a 'How To Style' section on my blog so let me know what you think! I'm going to do do it by occasion, such as what to wear to a wedding, and items, such as tartan pants, pelmet skirt etc. so if you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments below!
Ciao for now and have a wonderful holiday season from Vintage Venom.

Christmas Wish List by Polyvore.

Christmas Wish List

Christmas Wish List by sarahmagliocco featuring River Island

So it's that time of year again, and being a material girl I always make a Wish List.

Missguided evening dress
$44 - missguided.co.uk

I have had the seasonal obsession with white clothes every since the minimalist trend rolled around, and the persuit of the perfect flattering white dress has been an obsession ever since.

Levi's denim shorts
etsy.com

Denim shorts. Finally I got an amazing blue denim pair from Topshop a few weeks ago but my black clothes obsession never ceases.

Topshop stretch jeans
topshop.com

I have never been a jeans girl but since investing in a black pair of Moto black Leigh skinny jeans I now want a pair in every colout.

Leather pumps
nastygal.com

Jeffrey Campbell Scullys, my ultimate shoe crush of the year. Fingers crossed they're mine before the year is out.

Casio digital watch
target.com

The last watch I had was probably pink, plastic and sparkly and came out of a Lucky Bag. I love Casio watches, they are 90's accessories personified.

Moschino belt
net-a-porter.com

Just a dream. Although Cotton Face Vintage can apparently get them!

White headphone
chapters.indigo.ca

Self explanitory. My headphones are luminous orange and have no sound proofing what so ever. I'm sure the nice commuters on my bus route ae sick of the 1975 blaring out at them every morning.

New Celine Paris Printed Logo Men Black and White Cotton T Shirt Tee -...
etsy.com

Brian Lichtenburg is a satirical master, his Celine tee's are the epitome of this.

MAC Cosmetics lipstick
nordstrom.com

Dark red is my lipstick colour of choice and my Kate Moss Rimmel is running low.

Benefit eye makeup
$17 - johnlewis.com

Falsies. Nuff said.

Benefit perfume
$48 - debenhams.com

The sweetest, nicest perfume in existance. I cant walk past a Benefit counter without giving it a spritz.

River Island nail polish
$3.95 - riverisland.com

Matching nails, matching lips.

Velvet Scrunchie
$7.40 - americanapparel.co.uk

American Apparel doesn't ship to Ireland, I fear this will never host my raggedy bad hair days.

I made this wish list on Polyvore, follow my sets, the username is sarahmagliocco!

A Top & Some Trinkets

Hello all, I have a few little pieces here I picked up recently over the past week or two with change I had lying around at the bottom of handbags and in tins and things so it was basically with money I didn't even know I had!
I got this amazing t-shirt in River Island, I'm so happy with River Island at the moment, it's really upped it's game lately. They have some lovely casual wear and knitwear, and none of the tacky over the top pastel sequin things they had last season. They have some really cool flatform hi-tops with a subtle aztec print that I'm dying to get, but they also have some knock off JC Litas which are a little tacky in suede. I think the high street is going a tad over board with their knock off Litas.
But anyways, sorry about the quality of the photo, it's a really slouchy shirt so it was difficult to make it look nice on the hanger, but it hangs beautifully on and I'm obsessed with the neon detailing!

I also picked up this Nail Ring, a total steal for 2.00 euro! I really want to get more small delicate rings to layer them up so this was perfect. The only thing I can say bad about it is that I'm guessing it's made for someone with shorter nails as the ring doesn't protrude over my nail, but mine are really long so I guess that's just going to happen! It also looks really nice worn on the first knuckle of the pinky finger.
I also grabbed this crucifix headband, which I would never wear on my head but I'm going to do a little project and turn it into a necklace similar to the NastyGal sideways crucifix ones, and it was only 2euro in the Sale.
The next item I found were these amazingly intricate crucifix drop earrings from Topshop. I think their so decadent and a nice alternative from the usual plain gold or silver over sized crucifixes that are dime a dozen these days. They have gorgeous black and gray stones set into them and little delicate spikes dangling off them.

I also was in the Yankee Candle store for a sniff and they were having a sale so I got two baby powder large candles, as it was the nicest flavor in the sale, the rest were either lemony or lavender and I wanted something softer and sweeter. It was two for 25 euro which is basically buy one get one free which was amazing.
As you may have seen on an earlier post, I love Katy Perry's eyelash range for eylure. Iv'e been using the "Oh Honey" eyelashes for a while so I decided to try the "Cool Kitty" version, which are fuller and more dramatic. I haven't tried them yet but I'm excited to so I hope they live up to the "Oh Honey" version.
The last thing I got is...(drum roll please)... my school bag for next year! I'm going back to do my Leaving Certificate exams again after a year of college which sucks a little but I need to do it!
I picked up my new backpack in Topman, I really love the print but I think it needs a little something more so I think I will customize it with some spikes. The only bad thing is it's quite flimsy so I'm going to have to reinforce the bottom with leather or something. It's a work in progress!

Haul: River Island Sale!

Like many others, I got up extra early Tuesday morning in the hope of getting an elusive half price wristband, unfortunately I wasn't early enough and there were none left, but no matter!
The nearest River Island is literally 5mns from my house so I wandered down, sleepy eyed and joined what I assumed would be a serious war zone, but apparently I beat the rush. I only picked up a few things but what I got I'm really happy with!
I picked up this cute Hamsa Necklace with a pink stone.
I got kind of fed up with my cheap Hamsa bracelet snapping every two seconds so this necklace is a sweet alternative to it! And for 3euro I couldn't really leave it behind.

I also got these fang earrings for a minuscule 2euro, I think I was just drawn in by the price cause I hardly ever wear earrings, but sure, I'm sure I'l wear them with something.

Keeping with my usual love of crucifix's, I snapped up this side cross bracelet. Its exactly like Nasty Gal's side cross necklace, so I hope RI does a version of that too, it would be a nice alternative to Nasty Gal's seriously over priced one.
I really like it, its a really cute delicate way to wear a crucifix!

I also go these vertical stripe tights because my Topshop ones are in bits.  Come to think of it   I probably should have bought like three pairs!

I also picked up this pastel yellow tea dress in a marl fabric. Its got a slightly stretched, distressed pattern on the fabric. I can see it being an easy thing to throw on during Summer with brogues or Vans and ankle socks.
I also got this sheer black tasseled kimono,

I think it will be really good for holidays or a night out, I really wanted more tassels in my wardrobe, and I thought this was a cute summery way to do it rather than an edgy or western way!

I am so happy I got this cardigan! I was looking at it for ages but never got it, then it was in the sale! Woo! I know its really squished and hard to see in the photo but that's cause its super slouchy and comfy and soft.
It's just a loose knit cream cardigan with brown and tan tassels and knit detailing.
It's another tasseled item with glorious tasseled sleeves so whenever I wear it I feel really like, swoopy and use loads of hand and arm gestures so I wan see the tassels! I nearly took my boyfriends eye out during dinner last night with my dramatic arm gestures.
Speaking of le boyfriend, I picked him up this shirt when I wandered up to the men's section..

This skirt shall be my Summer touch of neon, weather permitting. I wore it out and it was really nice and swishy even though two other people I knew were wearing it too! Everywhere you went it was like "Oh you got that in the RI Sale" to everyone you saw.

I adore this light little crop top, it's so whimsicle and silky and kind of floaty fairy style!

So that's my River Island Sale Haul, hope you enjoyed!
